Jung for The Youth of Our Times

Growing up; the greatest of all adventures; the greatest of all challenges! Even if psychological growth is the most important challenge as regards life’s meaning, it is also the most neglected aspect in our educational systems and amongst our conscious collective concerns.

Who in their youth didn’t ask questions about life and how to deal with its challenges? Young people are faced like never before with the unknown as regards the future. My aim is to present the inner life as a resource and a place where growth and development takes place.

Throughout several decades of practice with adolescents and young adults I have found that they were most often passionately interested in learning about the depths in themselves. Addressing the youth of our times, Jung offers an understanding, a way and simple knowledge which helps individuals to face what is called for on the path of life.

Everyone dreams; what do dreams mean?

Why are they a real resource?

A nightmare is meaningful, discover its messages.

Why don’t we understand someone? It may be a question of typology.

What are our complexes and how to get beyond them?

What is happening when we don’t want to get of bed? Psychic energy determines our need to go out, or into ourselves.

What is it in the other that is so annoying?  A question of shadow?

What is symbolic language? The language of the psyche – it’s easy to learn.

How is my own unconscious a source of inspiration and creativity?

What is my personal myth and how to discover it?

How is it determining the direction I should take in life?

What happens when I take the path that is not fully mine? False adaptation?

How come it is all in me?

Carl Jung can answer all these questions. Let’s learn together!

Be sure to bring writing and drawing materials for this presentation.

Patricia Anne Elwood

Patricia Anne Elwood, Jungian analyst, is an author, seminar leader and adventurer with several decades of research into the personal and collective unconscious. A post-graduate of the C.G. Jung Institute, Zurich, she completed her diplomas in analytical psychology for children, adolescents and for adults. She now lives and practices in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Patricia has taught Jungian concepts in universities and in educational and clinical institutions worldwide, guiding professionals from diverse disciplines in the exploration of psyche.

As a traveller to the inner and outer realms Patricia has always been passionate about what people believe in and this has brought her to explore many backwaters of the world where she has met with indigenous peoples and participated in a variety of rituals, ceremonies and beliefs systems.

She believes in the message of the indigenous peoples who maintain the relationship to the cosmic dimension and that longed for reverence which accompanies their beliefs, that we as a collective have lost.

With Jung, she recognizes that psyche has a dimension beyond time and space and that we are all interconnected as one global human tribe, with one fundamental search for unity and wholeness.

Her explorations beyond time and space have brought her to collaborate with physicists and scientists in America, England, Italy, France and Russia, bringing Jung to a wider field of research.

Patricia is the author of A Jungian Approach to Spontaneous Drawing, A Window on The Soul, which demonstrates how spontaneous imagery and drawing can reveal archetypal patterns, release unconscious blockages and reconnect individuals to the deeper intentions of their own psyche.

Having worked with young people over several decades, Patricia’s devotion today lies with The Youth of Our Timeswho are seekers on the path, in the throes of a new era and who are in need of orientation and guidance. She finds that making Jungian concepts accessible has been hugely acclaimed and very successful with the upcoming generation.

She believes that true wellness arises when the ego aligns with the deeper intention of the unconscious, allowing individuals to live creatively, consciously and in service to the greater whole.
